People who have given up their day jobs to follow their dreams have been called everything from foolhardy to brave. But as they say, fortune favours the brave and it certainly looks that way, in Kunal Daswani’s case. He left a successful career in banking behind to pursue a hobby that grew into a full fledged passion for photography. After spending the requisite time learning the ropes from G Venketram, one of the most celebrated photographers in the city, he branched off on his own.
In the short span of one year he has shot for some of the biggest names in the city including Airtel, Mehta Jewellery, Florsheim and Gaitonde, agencies like JWT, O&M and Fingerprints, boutiques like Chamiers, Brass Tacks and Azure and the some city’s favourite restaurants like Zaras, Chinatown, La Boulangerie and Copper Chimney, to name a few. Although his client roster is impressive, he says he’s just getting started. He’s keen on expanding to fashion photography and with a quite a few editorial assignments under his belt already, he’s eager to put his own unique spin on what fashion means to him.
